Remembering Bonny’s Birthday at Bintan Nirwana Resort

I spent this morning at Bintan Nirwana Beach where Bonny and I went in May 2006.  Though there were some changes since we went almost 7 years ago, the same inclining coconut tree was still there and the beachfront suite which the hotel upgraded us to was still there.

I took a picture of the eagle at the Ferry Terminal as I thought I did take one picture of him in front of the eagle.  True enough I found this picture of his when I returned from the trip.  I am glad to be at a place that brought sweet memory of him on his earthly birthday.

Four Years have gone by so quickly....

In all the world I shall not find a heart so wonderfully kind and tender, a countenance so pleasantly cheerful and bright, a spirit so amazingly simple and courageous, a love so magnificently beautiful and deep!
Though four years have gone by so quickly, my memory of Bonny is as dear today as in the hour he passed away.
My comfort and strength comes from knowing with certainty that he is rejoicing and enjoying himself in that glorious land with His Saviour and Friend--a place that he so looked forward to be in while he was here on earth.
Some day I hope to meet him.  When that some day will be, I do not know.  But that day will be the day I will clasp his big warm hand in that glorious land, never to part again!  There we shall together enjoy the eternal presence of our Lord!

Remember the Last Cruise with Bonny at the end of 2009

In December 2013, I went for a 6-day cruise to Phuket with stops at Klang and Penang.  This was more or less a similar cruise that I took together with Bonny two months before he was called home to be with the Lord.  As I walked down the streets in Phuket Patong Beach, I remember the massage place that we went and the fun things that we did.  It was hard not to think of all the "if only"s.  However, I know that there are chapters that I need to close to move forward.  Keeping the sweet memories and giving thanks for them and surrendering all the "if only"s will certainly blessed my Lord's and Bonny's hearts!

Finally I got to hold Taj Mahal with my fingers too!

As I remember the day we got married 18 years ago, I continue to count it an amazing blessing to have known and married Bonny.  He had brought such love and joy in my life.  I am not sure how we would have celebrated our anniversary or where we would have travelled to if he was still around, perhaps we would have gone to India.
Though I was unable to visit Taj Mahal with Bonny, I finally got there too and took a picture just like him but deliberately on the other side of the Taj Mahal.  This was one of my to-do-list in my healing journey of life without Bonny.

Bonny at Taj Mahal, India

Bonny had been to India many times after we got married but I didn't have a chance to go with him and visit Taj Mahal with him.  The last time I went to India was a church mission trip in 1994 before we got married.  Bonny was in the team too and the then Senior Pastor was trying hard to match make us:-)
As I prepare myself to go for our church India Mission Trip at the end of this month and I will be visiting Taj Mahal.  Besides ministering to the community, my trip to India this time will be done in remembrance of my beloved Bonny.

Praying Hands

I remember how Bonny used to get excited whenever July and August approached because it was time for the 40-Day Prayer started by Love Singapore Movement 17 years ago. It has been three and a half years now since Bonny left, I miss the sound of his prayers in the house and I miss travelling with him early in the morning for the early morning prayer meetings.
In remembering of him, I took time to read through some of his prayer journals and see his collection of praying hands.  Here is one of his collections which I believe he bought from the States.

A few months ago, I saw this praying hands displayed in the thrift shop at HighPoint.  It looked so familiar that I believed it was the one that Bonny bought from the States.  When I asked where it came from, I was told that it was donated by HighPoint as it was found in the Chapel during its renovation.  Immediately, I knew it belonged to Bonny and that he must have left it there.  So I bought it back and placed it on Bonny’s antique desk.   I felt like I have found a lost treasure!

Remembering Bonny and His Mum

Bonny’s mum was called home to be with the Lord 14 years ago.  Bonny joined her 11 years later.  Today, I take time to remember both of them—two beautiful persons with so much kindness and mercy.  I believe Bonny’s tender heart came from his mum, an amazing woman!
